Campaign: Reasonable Network Management

Stay out of the internet .GOV

The fact that the government is even thinking about making rules to regulate and manage an open internet doesn’t make since and completely negates the idea of an open internet. Wake up People and don’t let the FCC pull the wool over our eyes with their double talk. The internet is not broken and needs absolutely NO help from the Government.

Free and open?

Please clarify.

If by free you mean 'of no cost', then it will be free only to those who do not pay taxes. Why punish those who contribute to reward those that do not?

If you mean free as in the classic sense of freedom, wouldn't imposing FCC regulation be the complete opposite?

The regulator who is accountable, and those that aren't.

All those who would say about the FCC's proposed open internet regulation, "The government must be constrained and its rules limited," consider that the proposals are there precisely because another set of powers has considered at length instituting policies and rules which would adversely affect you and the rest of the internet-going public. Only these powers, the large carriers, are worst masters than your government. ...more »

Net neutrality means NEUTRALITY as in everyone gets the same access

Opposing net neutrality because it "regulates the internet" is like opposing rape laws because they "regulate private relationships". These laws are very clearly designed to keep privately owned internet providers such as Comcast or Time Warner from controlling what information you can access. In no way do they allow "evil government regulators" from "controlling the internet", regardless of what your Republican politicians ...more »

Healthy skepticism for authority.

Senator McCain (AZ) just introduced the inaptly-named "Internet Freedom Act," (S.1836) in which he and cosponsors propose to allow those things which the government's Open Internet proposal specifically prohibits. Senator McCain "called the proposed Net neutrality rules a 'government takeover' of the Internet that will stifle innovation and depress an 'already anemic' job market in the US." (rawstory.com) He further ...more »

Private Companies Have Stolen Public Property

The issue is not the internet, the issue is the infrastructure. The 2oth century was characterised by the introduction of public utilities - massive investment in infrastructure that could only be justified if it was built once, not over and over. No one expects to have five sets of power lines run to their house so that five suppliers can compete - you would never get the first set of wires. To improve the life of the ...more »

ISPs cannot be left without net neutrality requirements

The ISPs have proven, through all manner of actions taken in recent months and years, that they have no interest the freedom of speech or free flow of information. The government needs to adopt net neutrality rules to guarantee that open exchange for America; failing to do so would let private companies limit our first amendment rights as they see fit.

No Government Regulation Enabling Network Hogs

Net Neutrality is about inhibiting network providers from controlling bandwidth hogs such as Google and other companies that wish to put huge amounts of data of the network that affect quality of service of all network customers. It penalizes network companies who work to prevent network outages and provide better service. I prevents you from using the Internet unemcumbered by bandwidth hogs. The network companies and ...more »

The Internet was created by the Government. If you don't like that, please stop using it.

My conservative fellows, hear me out please before you start arguing against net neutrality. The internet was created by the government. Let that sink in for a minute. The internet as we know it today is a spinoff from DARPA projects during the cold war to control nuclear silos. So to all you people who hate the government touching stuff well, give up your use of the internet to show how much you hate government involvement. ...more »

When our founding fathers established this country is was so that they could have protection from burdsome goverment that was going on in other countries. It was a Free counry, a country of choice, not of government control. Goverment was established for the Defense of the nation, thats it. They already controld exessivly too many areas of our lives, and we pay for it with taxes. Plain and simple, the FCC should ...more »
